46% Increase in Drunk Driving Arrests
Yesterday we informed you on the increase in traffic citations in 2008, as well as the corresponding decrease in traffic fatalities. Continuing, below is a comparison of 2007 and 2008 DUI arrests. Driving while intoxicated is a serious matter and, in my view, the SFPD is doing an excellent job of focusing closely on this conduct. I reiterate that 15 fewer people died last year in traffic fatalities, than in 2007.
