Recent Crime Trends – North Beach & Chinatown

Central Station Update - Captain James Dudley
Graffiti vandals have scarred North Beach and Chinatown as of late. Please call 911 if you see acts of graffiti or other vandalism in progress. Use 311 to flag it for cleanup. There are rewards available for information leading to the arrest and conviction of graffiti vandals – call 415-575-4444.

Abandoned Christmas trees can be attractive to fire bugs. Please call 311 to report any trees left on the sidewalk or street in your neighborhood.

Portable toilets have been the target of arsonists, especially on the Russian Hill border between the Central and Northern Districts. Most have occurred between midnight and 6AM. Strategies have been deployed by both Districts, as well as by the SFPD’s Arson Task Force and SFFD Inspectors. Be aware of individuals carrying newspapers, cardboard or other materials. Please call 911 if you see anyone loitering near these structures after midnight. The crime only takes minutes to carry out and an immediate response is critical to catching those responsible.
